Read! Reading Success by 4th Grade (RS4G) is a community initiative with the goal of all of Springfield's children reading proficiently by the end of 3rd grade.

The mission of RS4G is to ensure that the entire community is working together to help children acquire the fundamental reading and language skills necessary for success in school and in life. Before 3rd grade children "learn to read." After 3rd grade they "read to learn."

The RS4G early literacy plan and the broad community coalition it represents—families, schools and community partners—was recognized by the National Civic League in 2012, naming Springfield an All-America City. Partner in a national movement, the Campaign for Grade-Level Reading (CGLR), RS4G has been named a Pacesetter Community by CGLR in 2012, 2103, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
