Read! Reading Success by 4^th Grade

Read! Reading Success by 4^th Grade (RS4G) is a community initiative with the goal of ensuring that all of Springfield's children are reading proficiently by the end of 3^rd grade so that they are provided with the fundamental reading and language skills necessary for long term success in school and in life.

The RS4G early literacy plan and the broad community coalition it represents—families,

teachers, health professionals and numerous community partners—was recognized by the

National Civic League in 2012, naming Springfield an All-American City. RS4G’s work was also

recognized by the national Campaign for Grade-Level Reading which has named Springfield a

Pacesetter Community for the last 8 years.
